The Clinton campaign, that is, its leaders, apparently have not disbanded and will take part in a recount of votes in Wisconsin in the presidential election between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

The recount effort is headed by Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate for president.

The Clinton campaign also said it would participate in recounts in other closely contested states, Pennsylvania and Michigan. It has been reported that the Clinton campaign has little hope of success in any of the three states mentioned. Then why make the costly effort (estimated at $5 million in Wisconsin) for a recount?

The Clinton campaign said it was participating in the movement to assure supporters that it was doing everything possible to verify that hacking by Russia or other irregularities had not affected the results of the election.

Some Clinton supporters just will not accept the results of the election. They were so sure of a Clinton victory that they can’t believe she lost. Like Clinton, they were out of touch with the mood of voters.

The election was close but we don’t believe the recounts will change the results.
