There are two medical marijuana amendments, 2 and 3, and one proposition, C, on Tuesday’s ballot.
There is some confusion about the three. Amendment 2 has received some endorsements. It has a 4 percent tax included with the money going to veterans for health care services.
Medical associations are against all three proposals. Many law enforcement officers also oppose all three.
There is sympathy for veterans for Amendment 2 since it would help them. However, we aren’t aware of widespread support from veterans’ groups for Amendment 2.
Medical marijuana as an issue is not going away. Some states have authorized it. Maybe in time, with more experience, it will gain acceptance.
We are all for helping veterans but still have reservations. There still are questions in many voters’ minds about it. We are in that grouping and will say no to all of the proposals.
