It’s tough to lose a state championship game, finishing second, but the Washington High School soccer Blue Jays have earned an accomplishment that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

To finish second in the state in your school’s enrollment class is an outstanding accomplishment. The team added to school pride in achieving a remarkable record. The players put Washington again on the statewide sports recognition map. The team reached a height that no other WHS soccer team achieved. For the team’s coach, Derek Schriewer, who, of course, would have been happier with a first-place trophy, it still is something to be proud of and the record compiled stands as an outstanding coaching achievement.

Congratulations, soccer Blue Jays. Your work ethic on the field paid off, and your record will be something for future Blue Jay players to strive to match, or even surpass. The Washington community is proud of you!
