For many political years, Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill and Republican Sen. Roy Blunt have joined forces in support of Missouri projects. They may disagree when it comes to some issues, but when it’s for the betterment of Missouri, political parties are cast aside and they work together.
That’s the way it should be!
But we’d like to see bipartisanship on other issues that are good for the country and for Missouri as well.
The two senators from Missouri are proposing Kansas City or St. Louis metro areas as sites for the proposed new Amazon second headquarters. In a letter to Amazon, the two senators pointed to the state’s infrastructure, central location, hiking trails, public transportation, professional sports teams and the state’s colleges and universities.
The second headquarters for Amazon would result in 50,000 jobs. More than $5 billion would be spent on the site.
The competition is intense for the Seattle-based company, with many cities vying for Amazon’s second headquarters. Missouri’s central location is a big plus. Missouri also has a “rich history” of fostering technology companies.
