The Military Order of the Purple Heart has proclaimed Branson as the first Purple Heart city in Missouri. The proclamation ceremony will take place in Branson Tuesday.

Branson is regarded as the “most veteran-friendly city in the United States,” according to the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

Branson has given special recognition to military veterans through special events geared to recognize them for their service. The city has paid tribute to the nearly 2 million servicemen and -women who have either been killed or wounded in combat, and honors not only Purple Heart recipients but all veterans across the nation.

During the ceremony, the Purple Heart flag will be presented to Branson city officials. The flag is flown each year on Purple Heart Day, Aug. 7.

Branson certainly deserves this recognition for the attention it has given to veterans. Many reunions of veterans are held in Branson, along with special veteran events, particularly around Veterans Day.
