Christmas Clergy Message: A Blessed and Merry Christmas To All!
By Fr. Mike Boehm, Pastor, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church
The Missourian
Greetings in the Newborn Savior of the World!
As the song goes, “We need a little Christmas!”
So true!
In our world where we seem to be inundated with bad news of war, civil strife, crime, unemployment, financial difficulty, etc., we need this Christmas.
In our own lives when we deal with personal or family struggles, we need to hear this Christmas message again and celebrate the Good News of our Savior. Jesus Christ is born!
Let us open our hearts to this truly awesome reality and let His love and mercy penetrate to the depths of our being. As St. John proclaims so boldly in his Gospel, “God so loved this world that He sent His only Son” (John 3:16)!
It’s true for our world and it’s true for each of us and it doesn’t get any better than that!
Jesus’ birth signifies the birth of hope, the birth of possibility for a new way of looking at life and a new way of looking at the world. Let us pray this Christmas that we — as individuals, communities, nations and a world community — embrace the hope that comes with the birth of the King of Peace!
Merry Christmas. May the newborn Savior bless us all!
