Nice to Win Awards
As we said before, we don’t publish newspapers to win awards, but when you are judged by your peers and are recognized, it is a tribute to cherish. This year in the Missouri Press Association competitions, The Missourian won 31 awards, both in individual and staff entries.
In addition, The Missourian won the Gold Medal in the largest weekly newspaper class for amassing the most points for entries that were prize winners. This is the highest state award in The Missourian’s category.
All of this newspaper’s associates have a hand in any prizes won in national or state competition. Publishing a newspaper requires team players, from the ladies in the front office to the men who load up the product for delivery at our Bluff Road production facility. For instance, we can have an outstanding news story or a clever ad with color, but if we have a poor print job as a contest entry it probably wouldn’t be a winner. Also, we owe it to our subscribers to place in their hands in a timely manner the best possible print job.
In this electronic age, the pages of The Missourian are composed by use of the computers in our downtown office and electronically transmitted to our production facility three miles away. High skill levels are required throughout the process.
The Missourian salutes all of its co-workers for winning these awards. This newspaper’s philosophy is that it has never published an issue that could not be improved, and we strive to do better.
