Some progress has been made in some states to curb abortions, but for 40 years that kind of murder has been permitted under the Supreme Court’s ruling in Roe v. Wade. It is estimated that more than 55,000 unborn children have lost their lives under U.S. legalized abortion.

Anti-abortion efforts are continuing. Educational efforts have been successful in advising women of help that is available to them. Pregnancy Help Centers have steered some women away from abortions, which have declined in some areas.

Pro-life advocates are optimistic that in the future Roe v. Wade will be overcome and America will return to a culture of life.

America has lost its way in respect for life. From abortion clinics to the streets of America where murders occur daily, there is no respect for life. There are gory stories of the killings that occur in abortion clinics. These stories are told by former workers in abortion clinics. There also are reports from women who have had abortions about the mental stress they undergo later.

We have a government that supports abortions. Too many of our elected officials are afraid to speak out against abortions even though they personally oppose them. We have a president who believes women have the right to choose death over life for the child they are carrying.

Credit should be given to the people of all faiths who peacefully demonstrate against abortions year after year on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. We salute the students who make the annual trips to Washington, D.C., to march against that infamous abortion ruling. We look up to the religious who have the courage to voice outrage to this kind of legalized murder.

This right to kill is the shame of America!
