Mark Thursday, Oct. 11, on your calendars. That’s the date the Washington Volunteer Fire Company will observe its 160th anniversary.
The event will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish with a program designed to celebrate the past and give a look to the future.
There will be a display of fire trucks and other equipment, along with a 6 p.m. dinner and program. The fire department wishes to share its rich history of service to the community with this anniversary program.
Dinner seating is limited. Event tickets are available at the Bank of Washington, Schnucks location.
This is one of the most significant anniversaries in the city’s history. Members of the fire company have the distinction of serving in the city’s most respected, dedicated and valuable agency of the city. And, we must add, the longest standing volunteer department in the city’s history!
