The state convention of the Missouri Association of Student Councils that was held in Washington late last week was a success in many ways. The convention was conducted like clockwork with no major hangups.

Most of the students stayed with host families and the visiting students received warm welcomes and they were perfect gentlemen and young ladies. The visiting students were excellent examples of what adults hope for in young people. They represented their schools well.

The convention was an event that permitted time to showcase the city. It wasn’t all business. The students had an opportunity to let off steam at several events. They were typical teenagers at those events.

Congratulations are in order for the administration at Washington High School and members of the Student Council there. Together they put together an excellent convention. We all can be proud of the leadership the students exhibited. They are tomorrow’s leaders and they will be able to meet the challenges they will face.
