For many years we have marveled at the Hospital Auxiliary at St. Francis Hospital, then St. John’s Hospital - Washington and now Mercy Hospital Washington. There may have been name changes at the hospital, but the commitment by the Auxiliary to assist the hospital has remained the same. Superior!
The Auxiliary just completed payment of its $250,000 pledge to the hospital for the new emergency department. The pledge was made five years ago. The money was raised through fund-raisers, gift shop sales and at special events sponsored by the Auxiliary.
The members of this organization are amazing. They work in a quiet and efficient manner. They always meet their goals. They have been up to meeting every challenge. Strong leadership and dedicated volunteers carry the organization to a volunteer level that is in keeping with the volunteerism height in this area.
We congratulate the Auxiliary on this outstanding contribution. We know the hospital is grateful. We know the people who depend on the hospital (which is most of us) appreciate what you do. We also know the Auxiliary is not through. Members never rest on their laurels. There will be more challenges. The members will climb those mountains, too. They always reach the top!
