When someone volunteers with a community organization for 60 years, recognition is due. Anytime there is a volunteer fireman who serves 60 years, it is very special.
Don Hahne is that person. He was recognized at a meeting of the Washington City Council the past week. During those 60 years with the Washington Volunteer Fire Company, he served as fire chief for 13 years. He also served the fire department as a captain, company secretary and assistant chief. He now performs safety roles. He also has been active in the FireFighters Association of Missouri organization, serving once as president.
