Christmas Clergy Message: Christmas Message

Our hearts yearn for good news!  We long for peace, justice and security.  We yearn for a savior to lead us from the divisions and heartache that afflict us today to a place of joy and security in something greater than ourselves.  We long for a Messiah to put our faith, our hope and our trust in.  

How could it be that this good news comes in the form of a weak and helpless baby lying in a simple manger in far off Bethlehem? Who could imagine that a child so humble and lowly could bring us out of the darkness of fear and anxiety and into the light of peace and joy? In a world which is so often jaded and cynical, it can be hard to believe.  It can be hard to have faith in a child so small.  It can be hard to find hope in one so weak.

Belief is hard.  Faith is work.  Hope can be buried so deep under  disappointment that finding it can seem to be an almost insurmountable task.  Some of us go years living in fear and darkness, anxious and depressed, without letting the light of the Christ child enter our hearts.  

This Christmas, open your minds and your hearts to the good news of the Christ child.  Let the love and the grace of God, found in Jesus Christ, overwhelm you with gladness and joy.  Come and find your peace in Him.   Come and adore Him.  Come and worship Him.  Give your praise to Christ our newborn King!
