åMercy Hospital Washington and the Hermann Area District Hospital have entered into a relationship that should be a rewarding one, especially for the residents of Gasconade and Montgomery counties. The affiliation was effective March 1.

The Hermann hospital is a 24-bed critical access facility. Plans call for more Mercy Clinic physicians in Hermann and rapid transfer of critically ill patients to Mercy in Washington, which is the only Level III Trauma Center between St. Louis and Jefferson City. Mercy also will provide consulting services, staff training and development, and access to programs such as telemedicine.

Mercy has a physicians’ office in Hermann with two family medicine physicians and a nurse practitioner. Mercy specialists have been caring for some patients in Hermann hospital’s Specialty Clinic. With the agreement other specialists will join them.

This appears to be a natural agreement that should be beneficial to both groups and especially to the people in the Hermann area.
