It appears that any country that hosts the Olympic games must include in its budget large sums of money for very tight security. Russia is finding that to be a fact. With two recent terrorist attacks in Russia, some distance from the Olympic site at the Black Sea resort of Sochi, officials are adding tighter security.

The terrorist attacks are believed to have been staged by Islamist terrorists from the volatile North Caucasus region, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Russia has spent $50 billion to stage the games. The city of Sochi was given a total facelift when it competed with other sites for the winter Olympics. That was only the beginning of the cost to stage the event. Russia now is expected to deploy tens of thousands of police and security forces to protect Sochi.

What is going on in Russia with the Olympics tells a story of worldwide unsafe conditions due to the terrorists.
