The annual Washington Fair parade Sunday evening was well-conducted and well-received by thousands of people who lined the parade route.

Staging the parade takes clockwork coordination. With over 100 entries, it’s no small undertaking.

It was impossible to determine which group enjoyed the parade the most — the participants who were in the parade or the viewers, some of whom waited more than two hours for the parade to pass by them.

The parade has become an established pre-Fair event. The first Fair parade was in 1994. Its popularity has been maintained each year it has been held. Children especially enjoy the parade and they always are ready with their sacks, which are filled with goodies by the end of the parade.

The parade is an enjoyable event to begin Fair week. It can put people in the mood for the Fair. It’s an invitation to “meet” at the Fair.
