It’s more noticeable in the summer months because people are outside, walking, working on their lawns or flowers, or sitting on their decks. We are writing about the noise from vehicles, especially motorcycles. They are violating a municipal law — unnecessary noise or peace disturbance.
Few are caught, charged and fined. The police can’t be everywhere and often violators are hard to catch in the act or are “quiet” when the police are near.
Front Street and Fifth Street are examples of areas where a lot of the noise occurs. But it can be heard on different streets in town.
It is annoying and uncalled for, and more attention needs to be given to it. We know law enforcement often is too busy with other problems and violations to take care of this kind of peace disturbance.
But a crackdown is in order.
