Hello, loyal readers, and welcome to my corner of The Missourian. As always feel free to contact me by email at barmeiere@emissourian.com or by phone 636-629-1027.

The weather this past weekend was very beautiful and I could not have picked a better Saturday to visit the Farmers Market in St. Clair again.

My mom came with me to the market this time. She bought tomatoes from Gerrie Brinker’s stand and some grass-fed beef from Bardot Family Farm.

By mid-morning it was still pretty cool for a day in July, so we took a short walk down Main Street. Afterward, we hopped in my car and I showed her around St. Clair.

Later that afternoon, we stopped to eat lunch at Joe’s Bakery and Delicatessen in Washington. I tried a chicken Caesar wrap. It was quite tasty. My mom ate a chicken artichoke spinach wrap and she seemed to enjoy her wrap as well. Joe’s Bakery is another place I can cross off my long list of restaurants to try.

On Sunday, one of my friends from college came down to visit me. She had never been to this neck of the woods before so we drove into Washington. The temperature was again really nice for this time of the year, so I took her by the river.

We walked the trail that is down by the riverfront. The trees provided much needed shade as we started to work up a sweat from our walk. Still, the weather was much more enjoyable than it has been lately.

Afterward, we went shopping and took advantage of a Kohl’s coupon I found online. I can’t wait for tax free weekend, which is this coming weekend. That is when some real shopping will take place.
