Quote of the Week: “There’s nothing we can’t do if we work hard, never sleep and shirk all other responsibilities in our lives.” – Leslie Knope
On Friday, I created a poll online asking which new word added to dictionary is your favorite from the ones I discussed last week. The poll can be found online on the left-hand side of the article titled “Barmeier Beat: Newly Added Words to the Dictionary.”
I was planning to reveal the results, but I’m extending the poll until next week. So please vote and the results will be in the paper.
Recently, I had two people give me baffled and shocked looks when I said I did not know of the application Venmo. To avoid this look of being from another planet let me explain what it is so you are aware.
Venmo is the latest banking application where one person can send or receive money from someone else. Let’s say your friend asks to borrow $200. You both register with the application and put in your bank information and you can send $200 right into your friend’s bank account.
I was told that Venmo is safe and trustworthy, but I haven’t used it myself yet, so don’t take my word for it.
On another note, let me share some of my favorite apps that I use every day.
While in the car, I use the podcast app where I listen to podcasts to spice up mundane drives. Currently, I’m on episode 41 of “My Favorite Murder” and episode 59 of Katie Couric’s podcast.
When I need to catch up on the latest SNL sketch or the latest Jenna Marbles vlog, I use the YouTube app. It is much more convenient to use the app rather than using a web browser.
The same goes for using Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
My favorite photo/video messaging app is of course Snapchat. Warning: Snapchat is highly addictive and may cause you to waste minutes, if not hours at a time.
I like using the face filters like making your face look like animals or adding makeup to beautify one’s photo. It is so much more than that. I’ll let you explore all there is on Snapchat.
Those are some of my favorite and necessary apps.
