Quote of the week: “If you aren’t in the moment, you are either looking forward to uncertainty or back to pain and regret.” – Jim Carrey.
Fall is here and that means new fall trends. A latest trend is spending hundreds of dollars for a pair of dirty shoes with duct tape.
I wish I was joking. An Italian company called Golden Goose is selling dirty shoes with duct tape across the tops for a measly $530. The shoes are called “Distressed Superstar Sneakers.”
The shoes are designed for men and Nordstrom’s website says it’s already sold out. I guess the grunge look is back in style.
Nordstrom’s description of the shoes states “crumply, hold-it-all-together tape details a distressed leather sneaker in a retro low profile with a signature sidewall star and a grungy rubber cupsole.”
I wonder if the duct tape actually holds the shoe together or if it’s just there for show. If it is a truly “distressed” pair of shoes, the duct tape would be holding the shoes together.
Unfortunately, I don’t have $530 to find out if the duct tape is functional or not. If someone has ordered those shoes, please let me know.
This is similar to the ripped jeans fad or maybe both trends go hand in hand. So, if you see someone with ripped jeans and duct-taped shoes, they probably spent at least $1,000 on that outfit.
According to InStyle magazine, some affordable women fall fashion trends include a plaid shirt dress, jean short cutoffs, a brim-wide hat, and booties.
Wednesday was Oct. 3, was also unofficially “Mean Girls” day, based off the movie starring Lindsay Lohan. There is a scene where the main character talks about how her crush asks her about the date.
“It’s Oct. 3,” Lohan says in the movie. It’s even more fitting that it falls on a Wednesday. In the movie, it is required for the popular girls, better known as “the plastics,” to wear pink on Wednesdays.
In honor of unofficial “Mean Girls” movie day, I am wearing pink.
Now that it’s October, I’ll be sure to watch the classic “Hocus Pocus” movie. It’s crazy to think that the movie is 25 years old. It came out in theaters during summertime so it didn’t do well at the box office.
I guess when Halloween that year rolled around, more people were interested and “Hocus Pocus” grew to its glory.
There were rumors about a second movie, but I haven’t heard anything since some of the original cast said they would be interested in doing another movie.
One film coming out in December is “Mary Poppins Returns.” I’m so stoked for that one!
It better live up to the original or exceed my expectations.
