If the VA medical scandal isn’t enough to cause military veterans to become angry, there is another issue looming that will increase their displeasure. It has to do with Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s back pay while being held by the Taliban.

The Army issued a statement Friday that said after Bergdahl’s reintegration it would continue a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of his disappearance and captivity. The results of the investigation will determine if Bergdahl will receive more than $300,000 in back pay. If it is determined he was a prisoner of war, he could receive another $300,000 or more if approved by the Army.

It is safe to say, most veterans believe he is a deserter — he left his post without permission. He was AWOL when the Taliban grabbed him.

The government already is providing medical care to  him at considerable expense. From reports, most of his health problems are mental.

The final decision on the pay issue will be decided by our commander in chief, President Barack Obama.
