The House and Senate Intelligence Committee has suggested that Edward J. Snowden may have been a Russian spy when he downloaded archives of classified National Security Agency documents and leaked them to journalists. Snowden, now in Russia, denied the spy suggestion, calling it absurd and false. He said he acted alone.
Rep. Mike Rogers, Republican of Michigan, who is chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said Snowden should not be seen as a whistle-blower but as a thief, “who we believe had some help.”
