To The Editor:

With the All-Star Games, Modern Auto Home Run Derby, and other skills competitions, all of the kids who participated in the WYSA Salute to Baseball event in Dutzow July 18-19 seemed to have a blast.

Over 350 kids participated in the event. We believe all of these kids created memories for years to come over the weekend.

Through cooperation from coaches throughout the league from Washington, New Haven, Marthasville, Augusta, Dutzow, and St. Clair, we were able to field full all-star teams for all divisions. Also, the number of kids who entered into the skills competitions at each level was awesome. The skills competitions really gave the event an “all-star weekend” feel.

This event would not have been possible without all of the local businesses who contributed in so many different ways as well as the numerous volunteers who stepped up to help with the concession stand, skills events, and coaching the teams. To all of you, we would like to say thank you. We would also like to thank everyone who came out to the Dutzow Ballpark over the weekend to watch the event. The crowd on both days was phenomenal.

We hope to continue this event for years to come. It truly was a celebration of youth baseball and softball in the area!
