Edith May Barber, nee Friedmann, 81, Grand Rapids, Minn., went home to be with Jesus Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012. 

Mrs. Barber, the youngest of seven children, was born Saturday, May 24, 1930, to Herbert and Tina Olive Friedmann in Robertsville.

She was married four times. All of her beloved husbands preceded her in death. She married Wilbert Kindel in 1947, Francis Chadduck in 1956, Rockford Hinson in 1971 and Robert Barber in 1984. 

Mrs. Barber was a licensed practical nurse earning her cap in 1964. She worked at various hospitals in and around the St. Louis area as well as in Cape Girardeau until she moved to Grand Rapids, Minn., in 2001. She enjoyed her cat, Cassie, as well as fishing, spending many happy days doing so with her children and her grandchildren.

She leaves behind five children, Linda Carter, nee Kindel, and husband Robert W., Pacific, Lawrence Kindel and wife Delora, nee Barnes, Gray, Tenn., Benny Chadduck and wife Cynthia, nee Helm, Oak Harbor, Wash., Jerri Waddell, nee Chadduck, and husband Craig, Remer, Minn., and Sandra Chadduck.

Mrs. Barber will be missed by her 14 grandchildren, Jason Carter, Bryan Carter, Jeff Carter, James Kindel, Christy Griffith, nee Kindel, Kenneth Chadduck, Heather Eaton, nee Chadduck, Christopher Waddell, Hedy Watkins, nee Waddell, Joshua Waddell, Julie Graham, nee Cobb, Mitchell Cobb, Erin Cobb and Teresa Cox, nee Cobb; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She also is survived by her sister, Ada Colvin, Sunnyvale, Calif.; her sisters-in-law, Gladys Friedmann, Orange Park, Fla., Betty Clyne, Florissant, Elizabeth "Betty" Chadduck, Illinois state, and Evelyn Chadduck, Cahokia, Ill.; along with many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Barber requested no service, and cremation was performed in Grand Rapids, Minn. A small private family gathering will be held in the spring in Missouri.
