Josephine "Jo" Mary Benfield, nee Chandler, 87, Union, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, in St. Clair.

Mrs. Benfield was born Sept. 8, 1924, in Miami, Okla., the daughter of Marvin Chandler and wife Bertha, nee Stahlman.

On Nov. 8, 1945, she was united in marriage to John Benfield in Washington.

She was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Union. She enjoyed Bible study, Vacation Bible School, Sunday school, quilting, sewing, flowers, gardens and her retirement years.

Mrs. Benfield was preceded in death by her husband, John Benfield; her parents, Marvin and Bertha Chandler; an infant son, James Benfield; and three sisters, Hazel Jones, Ellen Terry and Marion Huff.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Doyle and husband Gary, Cuba, Mo., Jean Reeves and husband David, Bourbon, and Sandra Thilenius and husband Mark, Union; one brother, Larry Chandler and wife Pat, New Port Richey, Fla.; two sisters, June Chandler,   Orange Park, Fla., and Edith McKenzie and husband Jack, Topeka, Kan.; five grandchildren, Kara Jean Bridgeman and husband Kevin, Cuba, Mo., David Reeves and wife Rochelle, Jefferson City, Jonna Jo Reeves, Olathe, Kan., and Kevin Doyle and Christopher Doyle, both of Union; an aunt, Gladys Friedman, Orange Park, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
