James R. Daugherty Sr., 77, Washington, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan.

Mr. Daugherty was born March 15, 1934, in Richwoods, the son of the late Anthony Pete Daugherty and wife Mary Eldrine, nee Politte.

He was united in marriage to Jane Huskey Oct. 22, 1960, in St. Louis. He served his country in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Daugherty is survived by his wife, Jane Daugherty, nee Huskey; one son, Jim Daugherty, Washington; two daughters, Ronda Alferman and husband Chris, New Haven, and Judy Straatmann and husband Alex, Washington; two brothers, Gerald Daugherty and wife Pam, Fletcher, and Gene Daugherty and wife Mary, Texas state; five sisters, Marge Bourisaw and husband Frank, Festus, Helen Frick and husband Bud, St. Clair, MaryLynn Wideman and husband Dean, Richwoods, Ginger Chandler and husband Don, Madison, and Kathy Regele and husband Hal, O'Fallon; sevenĀ  grandchildren, Melissa Feldman and husband Ryan, Christopher Alferman and special friend Meaghan Hillermann, Jay Daugherty and special friend Hannah Schweissguth, Luke Daugherty, Rebecca Daugherty, Taylor Straatmann and Madison Straatmann; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard and Dennis Daugherty and two in infancy; and one sister in infancy.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Jan. 14, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Washington, with Father Mike Boehm officiating.

Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association are preferred.

The family was served by Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
