Helen Marie Smith, 84, passed from this life on earth into the arms of Jesus Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, from the Marion Home, Fort Dodge, Iowa.

She was born in St. Louis May 20, 1927, to the late Rev. Clyde Ramey and wife Freda. She was the oldest of six siblings.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by two siblings, Zelma Keenright and Hubert Ramey. Surviving siblings include Mary Emmons, Betty Ping and Gary Ramey.

She came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 10 while attending Tower Grove Baptist Church, St. Louis.

On Aug. 4, 1952, she was united in marriage to Marvin Smith Jr. Their union was blessed with three children, Deborah M. Koelling, Union, Donald E. Smith, Adel, Iowa, and Pastor Marvin E. Smith III, Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Following the death of her husband, she worked for 28 years as a bookkeeper in St. Clair. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

After moving to Fort Dodge, Iowa, 16 years ago, she worked for the Girl Scouts of Iowa and the Fort Dodge Historical Society.

She loved her Lord Jesus. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing Skip-Bo and attending Harvest Baptist Church.

Mrs. Smith was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
