Raymond "Witch" Vorderbruegge, 77, Union, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, in New Haven.

Mr. Vorderbruegge was born Nov. 12, 1934, in Union, the son of Thomas Watters and Myrtle Vorderbruegge.

He received his education at Union High School and graduated in 1953.

Mr. Vorderbruegge served his country in the U.S. Army from June 3, 1954, to June 1, 1956.

He was united in marriage to Lorene Schwentker Dec. 27, 1958, at Zion United Church of Christ, Union. The couple made their home in Union.

Mr. Vorderbruegge was employed by McDonnell Douglas from 1964 to 1997 and retired after 33 years of employment. He was a member of American Legion Post 297, Union Masonic Lodge, Zion United Church of Christ and served on various church boards in years past. He also was an avid coin and antique model car collector.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Watters; one brother, Thomas Watters Jr.; and one grandson, Ryan Gerlemann.

Mr. Vorderbruegge is survived by his wife, Lorene Vorderbruegge, Union; one son, Kevin Vorderbruegge, Union; three daughters, Penny Gerlemann and husband Leroy, New Haven, Sandy Carl and husband Wayne, Berger, and Beth Prince and husband Kenny, Union; his mother, Myrtle Vorderbruegge, Union; four grandchildren, Erin and Matthew Carl and Erica and Sarah Gerlemann; one step-grandchild, Angie Lindhart; three step-great-grandchildren, Bobby, Brett and Jordan Lindhart; one half brother, Earl Watters, New Mexico state; four half sisters, Phyllis Fletcher and husband Bill, Loretta Moore, Connie Morress and husband Charles and Brenda Rhea and husband Mike, all of California state; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Oltmann Funeral Home, Union, with the Rev. Mike Bone officiating.

Burial was private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Union American Legion Post 297 or Union Masonic Lodge are preferred.
