Bluitt Alfred Deaton, known to most as "Sonny," 71, Pacific, departed this life at his home Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012.

Mr. Deaton was born in Anaconda Sept. 16, 1940, the son of Bluitt Deaton and wife Rowena "Fay," nee Belchamber.

On July 3, 1970, he was united in marriage to Donna Fay Bailey.

Mr. Deaton is survived by his wife, Donna Deaton, Pacific; two sisters, Shirley Todd and husband Dean, Sullivan, and Margaret Hamilton, St. Louis; one sister-in-law, Carol Gossett, Sullivan; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bluitt and Rowena Deaton; and one sister, Virginia Lough.

Mr. Deaton was a Christian and member of Faith Church, Fenton. He was employed as a trim press operator at St. Clair Die Casting and retired after 21 years of service in October 2011.

He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army, entering Aug. 24, 1959, and receiving his honorable discharge Aug. 23, 1962.

Mr. Deaton had a variety of interests throughout his life, not limited to but including cooking, baking, watching television (especially game shows) and spending time on the computer.

He loved dogs and also had a very keen sense of humor. Mr. Deaton had no children of his own, but he loved his nieces and nephews as his own. The precious memories that they have created will forever be cherished by them all.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 23, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Don Covington officiating.

A private committal will take place at a later date.

Memorials to the family are preferred.

The family is being served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
