Juel T. Nie, 83, Pacific, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011.

Mr. Nie was born Aug. 23, 1927, in Salem, the son of Michael Nie and wife Thelma, nee Walker.

He received his education in the Washington Public School system.

Mr. Nie served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was a member of the American Legion.

He was a member of St. Bridget's of Kildare Church, Pacific.

Mr. Nie was employed with Hussmann Refrigeration, St. Louis.

On Jan. 14, 1954, he was united in holy matrimony to Fern Burgan in Hoxie, Ark.

Besides his parents, Mr. Nie was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Jack Nie.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Fern Nie, Pacific; one brother, Bob Nie and wife Betty, Washington; one sister, Linda Bruce and husband Jack, Wright City; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday, Jan. 15, at St. Bridget's Church, Pacific, with the Rev. Robert Heimos, celebrant.

Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park, Affton.

Memorials to St. Bridget's Church are preferred.

The family was served by Nieburg-Vitt, Thiebes Funeral Home, Pacific.
