The Washington Park Board will meet this week to discuss the purchases of two pieces of equipment.

The board is scheduled to have its next meeting Thursday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. in the city hall council chambers.

On the agenda for the meeting is a review of bids for two new pieces of equipment.

While the city council has the final say on purchases, the park board weighs in and makes recommendations.

The first piece of a equipment is a mower hoist/lift. The machine will assist with the maintenance of mowers. It will allow parks department workers the ability to elevate a mower for easy access to the area under the mower.

The other piece of equipment is a bark blower. The machine will be used to help with the maintenance of park properties.

The city has been renting one, but has sought bids in order to have one on hand fulltime.

Also on the agenda is a discussion about extending the city’s contract with Midwest Pool Management for the continued operations of the city’s pool. The contract, originally signed in 2013, has an option for 2017.

If approved, the deal would pay Midwest Pool $160,480 for the 2017 season.

The board will also hear a proposal for an Eagle Scout project.
