A Washington man sustained serious injuries Friday evening when the motorcycle he was driving crashed into the rear of a pickup truck in the Spring Bluff area north of Sullivan.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said Craig S.Thornton, 58, was northbound on Highway 185 on a 1993 Harley-Davidson which struck a northbound 2004 pickup truck driven by Jack L. Blankenship, 71, Sullivan, who had stopped to make a left turn, according to the preliminary patrol report.

Thornton was ejected from the motorcycle and struck the rear of the pickup truck. He was flown from the scene by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis, Creve Coeur, the patrol reported.

Blankenship was not injured.

The 7:05 p.m. crash occurred at Little Boone Creek Road.
