Two Seats to Be on Ballot for Washington School Board
There will be two open seats on the Washington School Board this spring.
Filing for the April 2013 election opens Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 8 a.m. at the district’s administration building, 220 Locust St. in Washington.
Board members whose terms are expiring are Dan Contarini and Rick Rehmeier.
Contarini told The Missourian he plans to seek re-election, while Rehmeier, a longtime board member, does not.
The last day for candidates to file is Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at 5 p.m.
Regular filing hours following the opening day will be from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The district will be closed for winter recess from the close of business Friday, Dec. 21, through Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013. Offices will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at 7:30 a.m.
School board candidates must be citizens of the United States and resident taxpayers of the district who have resided in the state of Missouri for one year preceding their election.
Candidates also must be at least 24 years of age, not a registered sex offender, not serving a sentence or period of probation for a felony or a crime that if committed in Missouri would have been a felony, and have never been convicted of or pled guilty to a felony or misdemeanor under the federal laws of the United States of America.
School board members serve three-year terms.
