The first of seven Sunset on the Riverfront events will take place next Thursday, April 26.

The outdoor parties are held the fourth Thursday of the month from April through October from 5 to 8 p.m. at Rennick Riverfront Park.

This marks the 10th season for the Sunsets, hosted by Downtown Washington Inc.

“It’s a great way to spend an evening with friends and family,” said Bridgette Epple, executive director.

“We invite everyone to come enjoy the family-oriented festival which offers live music, delicious food and drinks, and a lively atmosphere at the Rennick Riverfront Pavilion,” said Epple,

Live entertainment will be featured each month. Wine, beer and soda will be available for purchase, as well as a variety of food from local restaurants.

Businesses and groups donate their time and tips each month to serve the drinks, Epple noted.

Epple said the events are family friendly and all are welcome to attend. Pets are not allowed, she said, and no outside alcohol may be brought in.

The entertainment for April 26 will be Onyx. The volunteer bartenders will be from Allure Salon & Spa.

The food vendors for next Thursday have not been announced.

Other Sunset events are planned for May 24, June 28, July 26, Aug. 23, Sept. 27, and Oct. 25.

The food and entertainment schedules, and bartenders for the upcoming events are as follows:

May 24 — Entertainment by Steve Leslie; food, Washington Jaycees and Café Mosaic; and bartenders from RE/MAX Gold First.

June 28 — Entertainment by Oatmeal for the Foxhounds; food, Washington Lions Club and Cowan’s Restaurant; and bartenders from Washington Town and Country Fair Committee.

July 26 — Entertainment by Jonesy & the Doctor; food, to be announced; and bartenders from Citizens Bank.

Aug. 23 — Entertainment by Three-Point Hitch; food, to be announced; and bartenders from BFA, Inc.

Sept. 27 — Entertainment by Phase Five; food, Joe’s Bakery & Delicatessen and B&B Barbecue; and bartenders from Bank of Washington.

Oct. 25 — Entertainment by Dave Bennett; food, Wimpy’s; and bartenders from First Bank.

All of the events are held rain or shine.

Sunset sponsors are Bank of Washington, Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, Noboleis Winery, Grey Eagle Distributors and Augusta Brewing Company.

Epple said the Sunsets are a great way to promote local bands and restaurants.

Developed in 2003, Sunsets have since become a staple in the community, she said, bringing patrons to Downtown Washington’s riverfront park after the winter season.
