Washington police received information Thursday about a possible suspect who attempted last week to steal narcotics from the Walgreens store here and who stole drugs from a Walgreens in St. Charles County.

Detective Sgt. Brad Erisman said a person who saw surveillance photos of the suspect posted on The Missourian’s website, emissourian.com, called and gave investigators the name of the suspect.

Investigators plan to contact the suspect and question him about the incidents, Erisman said.

The man was caught behind the pharmacy counter at the Washington store shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday, March 30. Police believe he was looking to steal narcotics but he was approached by a pharmacist before he took anything, according to Erisman. The suspect then left the store.

More than two hours later he was caught on video surveillance cameras at a Walgreens store in Wentzville. Police there said they believe the suspect was able to steal about 3,300 pills of various narcotics before leaving the store.

Wentzville police said the man may have driven away in a silver or tan Nissan Pathfinder.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Erisman at 636-390-1059.
