A new logo for the 31st annual Downtown Washington Fine Art Fair and Winefest has been selected.
About 12 entries were received in a logo contest and the 45-member winefest committee made the selection, according to Aimee Frey, event coordinator for Downtown Washington Inc., which sponsors the festival.
The logo will be featured on commemorative wineglasses that will be available under the winetasting pavilion during the three-day event May 18-20.
“We hold a contest every year and we had some great entries once again,” said Frey.
The winning logo was designed by Tara Steffens, Washington. She will receive a $100 in downtown gift certificates and free entry into the winetasting pavilion.
Frey said planning is under way for the festival which is held on and around the Main and Elm parking lot in the heart of downtown.
The artists will again be set up on Main and Elm streets and the wineries will be located under the Farmers’ Market pavilion. Live entertainment, a food court and other special activities are being planned.
Last year about 13 Missouri wineries and more than 40 artists participated. Frey said she expects another great lineup.
“We’re excited and looking forward to another great event,” she said.
This will be the fifth year the event is put on solely by the downtown organization. In the past, the group partnered with an arts society which oversaw the art show.
The Art Fair will feature a juried selection of artists whose work will be on display and for sale.
The event draws upward of 25,000 people over the three days if the weather is favorable.
Frey said the festival is the second largest in Washington, behind only the Washington Town and Country Fair.
