The 8,000-square-foot storefront that was once a women’s clothing store at 2064 Washington Crossing, has transformed into a Mattress Direct showroom, which will open this Friday at 10 a.m.

The Washington Mattress Direct location is the fifth to open, with others in Dardenne Prairie, Chesterfield, Arnold and West County. The first location opened in 2011 in Chesterfield.

“There were quite a few people traveling from Washington to some of our other showrooms,”said Patrick McCurren, president. “When we started growing, Washington was always on the map of places we would like to be.”

The store is a factory-direct showroom for the Beautyrest mattress company.

“This means it’s the same mattresses you would see at a department store or a normal mattress retail store, but they’re generally between 20 and 50 percent less than you would normally pay,” he said. “It’s better than the store price every single day.”

Mattress Direct also contracts with Beautyrest to build mattresses to specifications.

“You can’t buy a Beautyrest within 20 miles of here, and they really are the best in innerspring mattresses,” he said.

The showroom also features the entire line of the Tempur-Pedic brand.

McCurren said he is excited to bring brand-name mattresses to Franklin County and the Washington area.

“I’m looking forward to becoming a part of the community,” he said, encouraging people to stop by and introduce themselves.

In addition to all sizes of mattresses, pillows and mattress protectors will be available, including a line of pillows called Bed Gear that are specifically engineered for various sleeping positions.

“We would really like to help everyone get a better night sleep,” said McCurren, adding that he aims to get people the lowest price on the product that is right for them.

Employees are required to go through sleep help specialist training, he noted.

“They’re actually able to help you find the right bed that’s going to help you wake up without aches and pains and improve some of the muscle stiffness some people suffer from,” McCurren said.

Hours for Mattress Direct are Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
