A grand opening for the renovated Washington Public Library will be held this Sunday, April 15, from noon to 4 p.m.

A ribbon cutting will take place at 1 p.m. Library staff and officials will speak.

In addition, the library’s board of trustees will present the Velma Jones Stroetker Service Awards to Carolyn Witt, past library director, and posthumously to Catherine Woolley, a former board of trustees member and volunteer, who passed away last year.

The award is named after Velma Jones Stroetker, a former city librarian.

There will be tours of the library and Ruth McInnis, children’s librarian, will host story time activities for children.

Danny Brown, local wildlife photographer, will attend and have some of his work on display.

Additionally, the Friends of the Library’s executive board will be available to show the new Friends room.
