Washington Railroad Crossing, Park Access Closed This Thursday
Union Pacific Railroad will close the Lafayette Street railroad crossing this Thursday, June 7, beginning at 4 a.m. to replace concrete at the crossing.
Work is expected to be completed later that day, according to Andrea Lueken, assistant Washington city engineer.
The riverfront park will not be accessible during this time, but provisions are in place if emergency vehicles need access, Lueken said.
The riverfront trail will still be accessible from the east parking lot at the other end of the trail, by the wastewater plant.
Union Pacific personnel were expected to install a sign at the crossing Monday night notifying residents of the impending closure.
