School District Honors Retiring Staff Members

The Washington School District said goodbye to 13 retiring staff members at its annual end of the year program, held May 23 at the high school.

Employees recognized at the program are as follows:

• Joy Chartrau, 30 years, food services.

• David Benson, five years, custodian.

• Janet Kleinheider, 39 years, third-grade teacher, Washington West Elementary.

• Sue Rhoads, 31 years, fourth-grade teacher, Marthasville Elementary.

• Laurie Riekhof, 22 years, vocal music teacher, Campbellton and Clearview Elementary schools.

• Joan Obermark, 24 years, fourth-grade teacher, Clearview Elementary.

• Wynn Scheer, 22 years, fourth-grade teacher, Fifth Street Elementary.

• Elizabeth Dysart, 21 years, language arts teacher, Washington Middle School.

• Michele Jones, 26 years, family consumer science teacher, Washington Middle School.

• Jim Ogle, 31 years, math teacher, Washington High School.

• Rick Schwentker, 22 years, physics teacher, Washington High School.

• John Strubberg, 20 years, guidance counselor, Washington High School.

• Colleen Underwood, 26 years, special education teacher, Washington High School.

Collectively, these retirees have 319 years of service in the school district.
