Warrenton city officials lifted mandatory water conservation measures on Friday, a move that led to the municipal pool being reopened that same day.

The city was able to lift the mandatory restrictions and revert back to voluntary conservation measures following the completion of a well pump replacement project and approval of water samples from Well No. 6.

The city is requesting residents and businesses conserve water whenever possible when watering lawns, washing vehicles, filling swimming pools, cleaning exterior surfaces and controlling dust, according to a press release issued Friday.

Though the pool is now open, the slide and spray ground area will remain closed.

City officials instituted mandatory measures on July 5 to reduce water usage. Those efforts were deemed necessary due to declining levels in the water table.
