Wright City Police are looking for a man who robbed the new Subway store, 13000 Veteran’s Memorial Parkway Tuesday, Sept. 25.

Police describe the gunman as a white male between 30 and 40 years old, about 6-foot tall, with dark brown and gray hair and a goatee. The man was wearing a blue T-shirt, blue jeans, cowboy boots, a gray and white New York Yankees cap and has a tattoo at the base of his neck.

Wright City police Detective Tim Matthews said the man came into the Subway about 8 p.m. and bought a sandwich, paying with cash. Then the suspect went outside, came back into the restaurant and went into the restroom. When he came out of the restroom he displayed a weapon and demanded money, according to police.

“He flourished a black and silver semi-automatic at the cashier and demanded that she empty the register,” Matthew said.

Two young women were working in the store at the time of the robbery. After the man got the cash, the gunman told them to lie on the floor for five minutes or he would come back and hurt them.

Wright City Police Chief Doug Saulters said the girls, whom he described as “terrified,” waited about three minutes and then called 911.

Matthews said police aren’t sure if the man is from the local area.

“It’s hard to say,” he said. “Typically, if someone doesn’t disguise themselves, they are from out of town.”

Police were able to obtain footage from the store’s surveillance video and hope someone will be able to identify the man. Matthews said anyone with information should call the Wright City Police Department at 636-745-3541.

The subway store opened about two weeks ago.
