A 22-year-old Wright City man was taken into custody by Wright City Police Thursday, Jan. 31, after he crashed a vehicle into a Wright City supermarket.

The crash damaged the entryway of the Economy Supermarket, 103 W. North Second St., but no one was injured, according to reports.

Arturo Uribe-Cruz is facing municipal charges for driving without a license and careless and reckless driving, according to Lt. Matt Eskew, Wright City Police Department.

Uribe-Cruz was driving west in a 2003 Dodge Neon on West North Second Street when he turned into the Economy Supermarket parking lot, Eskew told The Record.

Witnesses told police that Uribe-Cruz did not slow down before the vehicle struck the building.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the 2:25 p.m. incident.
