Candidate interest in the upcoming municipal election is high, as three municipalities and one school district in Warren County will have contested races for seats on the April 2 ballot.

The filing period closed Tuesday afternoon.

There will be races in all wards in both Warrenton and Wright City.

Additionally four candidates are vying for two seats on the Wright City R-II School Board.

Five candidates also filed for three available seats on the Innsbrook Board of Trustees.

Late filings by two candidates in Wright City resulted in a four-way race for the board of aldermen in Ward 2 and a contested race in Ward 1.

On Monday, Matt Barbey, 52 Spring Hill Circle, declared his candidacy for the board of aldermen in Ward 1.

He will challenge incumbent Alderman Dan Rowden, 542 Indian Lake Drive.

The latest person to file for the seat in Ward 2 was Angie Reynolds, 249 Kerland Drive.

She will face incumbent Alderman Jim Toothman, 6 Thoroughbred Drive, Forrest Bruce, 115 Trotters Creek Lane, and Kay Janish, 244 Kerland Drive.

Aldermen in Wright City serve two-year terms.

Warrenton

There are races in each of Warrenton’s three wards for seats on the city’s board of aldermen.

Karen Casserly, 417 Chantilly Court, and Ron Jurgesmeyer, 304 State Highway U, are seeking election to the Ward 1 seat currently held by Alderman Phil Tallo, who is not running for re-election.

Scott Costello, 522 Shilling Oaks Drive, and Gary Auch, 302 Steinhagen Road, will face off in Ward 2 for the seat currently held by Alderman Beth Kendall. She is not seeking another term.

In Ward 3, incumbent Alderman John Clark, 114 Kent Court, is running for a new term. He is challenged by Donal Broering, 1 Isaac Drive.

Voters also will be asked to approve an annexation plan by the city to extend the city limits 600 feet west along Interstate 70.

The Warrenton Board of Aldermen Tuesday night unanimously voted to place the issue on the April ballot.

Marthasville

Three incumbents are running without opposition for re-election in Marthasville. The candidates are:

Mayor Jason Schantz, 250 Hillside Lane;

Ward 1 Alderman John Graham, 806 Northridge Drive; and

Ward 2 Alderman Mike Kloeppel, 26 Kountry Lane.

Truesdale

Three incumbent officeholders are seeking new two-year terms in Truesdale.

Mayor Murray Bruer, 101 Thrush Court, filed as a candidate for a two-year term as the city’s mayor.

The incumbent aldermen seeking new terms are Donald McGee, 835 South St., and Stanley Brookshire, 107A Bolm Lane.

Aldermen in Truesdale are elected at-large. They do not represent specific wards.

Innsbrook Board

Of Trustees
