Four Men Arrested With One-Pot Meth Lab in Union

The investigation into the death of a 5-month-old baby found in a Villa Ridge mobile home led officers to a Union residence where four men were arrested for suspected methamphetamine manufacturing.

Members of the Franklin County Narcotics Enforcement Unit responded at about 5 p.m. to the trailer in the Hi Court Mobile Home Park.

When officers arrived at the scene, the suspects, all in their 20s, were attempting to pour the contents of a one-pot meth lab down a drain, according to Detective Cpl. Scott Briggs with the FCNEU.

“We were able to catch some to send to the lab,” he said.

A man in his 50s or 60s was staying at the home, but was unaware that the suspects were cooking meth, Briggs said.

One of the four men arrested was the man’s nephew. Each of the suspects have a criminal history in connection with narcotics investigations, authorities said.

Union police responded to the scene to assist drug officers. Union fire crews decontaminated the suspects.

Briggs said three of the suspects are from Villa Ridge, and one suspect is from Union. Their names are being withheld pending charges.

He added that narcotics officers were following up during the investigation into the death of 5-month-old Michael Kibbons who was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital Washington April 3.

Detectives have been investigating the sequence of events that occurred the evening of April 2 to determine what, if anything, may have contributed to the child’s death, authorities said. There were no visible signs of trauma to the boy’s body, police said.
