Plans are underway for Union High School’s 2012 homecoming celebration.

Friday, Oct. 12, is the date of the parade, tailgate, football game, royalty coronation and semi-formal dance.

Parade

Any organization, school or community based, must complete an application to participate or compete in the Homecoming parade.

Forms can be picked up at the high school front office and are available through Christy Baker. Applications must be returned to the high school no later than Oct. 5.

Entrants of a political nature are not allowed.

In order to participate in the parade students in all grade levels must fill out a permission slip. Slips are also available from Baker, but they do not need to be returned to her or the high school. Participating organizations should designate a sponsor to collect and keep the slips throughout the parade.

Again, the city pool parking lot is the parade participant rally and route launch point.

Vehicles and trailers driven during the parade should arrive at the lot fully decorated or with supplies on hand. As a measure of personal safety and traffic prevention other vehicles will not be allowed on the lot, even to drop off supplies.

The applications contain a complete list of driver qualifications and rider regulations as well as the parade theme.

Tailgate

The Student Council tailgating will take place in the student parking lot off the Wildcat Drive entrance to the high school. The tradition turns 10 this year and will feature carnival games, music, food, and more.

Businesses or individuals interested in setting up a booth or table are welcome to contact Baker by Oct. 5.
