Gerald Area Man Charged in Crash That Damaged Barn

Hill is charged with one felony count of first-degree property damage and one misdemeanor count of trespassing in the incident.

Deputies initially were called Feb. 16 to a residence on Highway AC near Spring Bluff after a citizen reported a suspicious person in the area. The caller said the man came to her door, demanded water and then left.

Earlier that morning deputies responded to a traffic crash in the same vicinity. A car, later linked to Hill, left the road at a high rate of speed, crashed through two fences and crashed into a barn.

Deputies found evidence that the couple had been living in the basement of the Spring Bluff Baptist Retreat off of Highway AC. As a special condition of the bond, Hill is ordered not to enter the retreat property in the future.
