Union police are investigating an armed robbery at Phillips 66 Petromart on East Main Street early Wednesday.

Authorities said the store clerk was cleaning at 2:20 a.m. when a man wearing a dark coat with a hood pulled over his face came into the store, took a handgun from his pocket and ordered the clerk to open the cash drawer.

The clerk opened the drawer and the man took the cash, then fled on foot, Union police said.

The clerk said he only saw the man's hands and believes the suspect is a black male, police said.
