Pedestrian Struck, Seriously Hurt in Union

A Union woman was hurt Sunday night after she was struck be a car as she attempted to cross Highway 47 on foot, Union police said. 

Nancy Moore, 57, tried to cross the highway at Central Avenue at 9:45 p.m. when she was struck by a 2002 Ford Focus driven southbound by Jillian J. Helling, 25, of West Burlington, Iowa.

Moore was taken to Mercy Hospital Washington by Union Ambulance and then transported to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. 

Union police said Moore's injuries were serious.
