Franklin County Hires Highway Engineer

Franklin County officials said Friday they have found a new highway department engineer.

Joe Feldmann will start as the county’s new engineer this Monday, April 16.

Eva Gadcke, county highway administrator, said Feldmann’s duties will include handling engineering work on county- and federally financed bridge projects in the county, drainage on county roads and watershed issues for the planning and zoning and building departments.

Gadcke said Feldmann was selected from a group of eight finalists for the position.

“We wanted someone who had not only the ability, but disposition to come into this kind of job,” she said. “He really seems to fit the bill.”

Feldmann, who lives in Washington, previously worked for Budrovich Crane, St. Louis, and BFA, Washington.

He holds a degree in civil engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.

The county hasn’t employed an engineer full time since the departure of Rich Wilson, the former public works director, late last year.
